The final has been played and a champion can be crowned!
After 6 weeks of matches and almost all matches being fully played, we are ready to crown our PG iCTF Draft Spring 2022 champions!
Let us take a look at how the final went:
We had Improbable Immediate Flag Extraction facing off vs Team UwU.
After the server had been decided and a cointoss was done, the maps were clear and we were going to see: Rune(
IIFE()), Acrony(
uwu`), Broken Limits (
uwu`) and Anfractuous (
IIFE())
Rune
Rune started off heavy with
uwu` taking an early 1-0 lead but
IIFE() immediately equalized on the countercap. This basically set the tone for the rest of the map as we saw both teams capping flags left and right. On
IIFE()'s side we saw
r3v0lt3 with some very nice and fast runs capping 4! flags in total. On
uwu` :3ennoo:3 had a very good grudge game and capped 3 for his team. This map had some crosssteals with some flagdropping shenanigans which were very interesting to watch on stream. (thanks
promises and
bat' for the nice stream!) It ended in overtime where
IIFE() took away the victory on this very cap-heavy map.
Acrony
This was
uwu`'s first map choice and since they were 1-0 in maps behind they had to make up for it on their own map. They brought in
yk and his mid powers were immediately
utilized with him topping the frag meters and grabbing a whopping 0 times. Grabs on his teams side were not really needed from him though as
:3ennoo:3 and
skye were grabbing plenty.
IIFE() brought in captain
Deaod for this map to tighten their defense with
AnNiHiLaToR.
Once again this map was very close and
uwu` took the lead only to see it equalized by
AnNiHiLaToR after a nice pick-up train on the flag run.
With 15 seconds left on the clock and the score, 2-2 we saw
skye grab the flag once more and the entire
uwu` team was up high to cover him. In the end, it was
yk who rewarded himself and his team for the nice map he played by capping the flag on the dying seconds of the map.
Broken limits
The second mappick for
uwu` who swapped out
yk for
Brasco again. And
IIFE() swapped
Qbit for
seeya. After 1 minute it was once again
uwu` taking an early lead after
Brasco had a nice run and raced a flag home. Soon after both flags were gone but
:3ennoo:3 was sneaky waiting in the opponent's base and returned the flag giving
uwu` the 2-0 lead.
Duy saw the opportunity to do something back and bring them back in the game to 2-1. And not late after that
r3v0lt3 had another clutch run, once again tying the game to 2-2. With 8 minutes left in the game
:3ennoo:3 had a very nice run making it 3-2.
uwu` decided to lock down the map after that securing their 2nd map win.
Anfractuous
IIFE()'s second mappick and with the current score, a must win map. They swapped out
Deaod for
Qbit and
uwu` brought back
yk for
Brasco.
After 7 minutes of some back and forth it was once again
uwu` taking the 1-0 lead with a nice run by
:3ennoo:3, with a quick 2-0 and 2-1 straight after. Once
uwu` got to a 4-2 lead it was basically over for
IIFE() and they tried some hail mary with full attack. As often that only lead to the other team capping more and it resulted in an 8-3 map win for
uwu`.
